With near perfect weather conditions forecast for this weekend, County Line Raceway is set to open its gates this Saturday for another round of exciting racing action.
In the J&M Chevrolet Late Model Division, new players will play a factor as the always fast, “The Kamikaze Kid” Dustin Mitchell in the D8 machine returns to his home track to compete this weekend. New points leader “The Wild Child” Damon Kotke is coming off of his third win of the season as he looks to cushion his points lead over “The Gentleman Farmer” James Batten. Batten was very fast in last week’s feature and will look to flex that Batten horsepower once again. Even though sunny skies and cool evening temps are in the forecast, we are under a “Hurricane Watch” moving in from the West. We can only wait and see if the storm moves into the raceway.
The Rapid Red Racing Supply Open Wheel Modifieds make their return to the 3/8ths mile clay oval this weekend with Double Points on the line as Russell Erwin looks to go 3 in a row! After a hard crash earlier this season, look for the #50 of Eric Erwin to make his comeback this weekend. Others looking to take home the feature win will be the #48 of Chris Parker who sits 2nd in points just 7 points behind Russell Erwin. Chris will be piloting his new Shaw by Erwin chassis and will look to capitalize on Double Points for the Modz! The #99 of “The Puppy Creek Flash” Ricky Boahn will look to rebound after an uncharacteristic struggle last time out. Ricky currently sits 3rd in the points, 68 points out of 1st place. Others to watch this weekend will be Tanner Rumberg, Bret Hamilton, Dan and Chris Arnold, Travis Hair, Greg Brown and “The High Side Tickler” Kyle Strickler!
The Super Stock Four Cylinder Division powered by Carquest Auto Parts is back this weekend after a dominating performance last week by the red #72 of Andy Ross. Ross who took full advantage of Double Points Night now holds a 97 point lead over fellow driver Jason Horne. Bill Winstead sits 3rd 137 points out of first place. John Proctor is coming off a great 3rd place finish and will be looking to find Victory Lane for the first time this weekend. The driver to watch in this division is the #2 of Kent Wright. Kent has been plagued with bad luck since making his debut this season. Hopefully with the bad luck behind him, look for Kent to have a great qualifying run this weekend and just maybe that first feature win!
In the P.L. Woodard & Co. Pure Stock V-8 Division, only 67 points separates the top 5! Jerry Williams has moved up 9 spots to second, 38 points behind leader Tony Harrell in the #83 Monte Carlo. Sitting in 3rd is the #97 Camaro driven by Phillip Lamm. Phillip is only 1 point out of second and 39 points out of first place. Mr. Consistency David Beamon sits fourth and Greg Barnett driving “The Black Pearl” looks to make a comeback this weekend after leading nearly last week’s entire feature event. Race fans, this division have displayed some of the best racing action you can ask for. Show these drivers your support this weekend as they come by the grandstands!
The Prime Electrical Solutions Thunder & Lightning Division saw Kevin Abbott power by the point’s leader Skeeter Liles last Saturday night to take the feature win. With Liles holding on to 2nd place, he keeps his points lead by 60 over Joey “The” Cascell. J.P. Cascell continues to march up the point’s ladder and now finds himself sitting in 3rd position, 113 points out of first place. Rounding out the top 5 in points is the Michael Batten who is still searching for that first feature win this season. Michael sits 124 points and Mark McDaniels driving the yellow #84. Mark currently sits 178 points out. The driver with the worst luck last weekend had to be Cy Nelms Jr. Cy entered the event sitting 3rd in points. With the disappointing finish, he drops to 6th in points 214 behind Liles.
Come out this weekend to see how the story lines play out!
Any division that completes a feature without a caution will have 10% added to their payoff from top to bottom. Gates will open at 5. We hope to see you this weekend for the “Greatest show on Dirt” that is County Line Raceway!
