EARLY BIRD SPONSOR FOR WATTS MEMORIAL STEPS UP...
STANLEY, N.C. (Friday, July 27)–The Dave Watts Memorial All-Star Race at East Lincoln Speedway for Late Model Modified-Sportsman drivers is still six weeks away but sponsors already have it on their mind.
The first to step forward was J E ELECTRIC of Catawba.
The electrical contracting firm will provide the following:
Fifty dollars ($50.00) to the second fastest qualifier.
Fifty dollars ($50.00) to the winner of the Last Chance Race.
“We certainly appreciate Jim Henneborn arranging for this and I am sure our drivers also will be thankful,” said track manager James Honeycutt.
September 8, is the Saturday night for the event that will honor the memory of the late Dave Watts. Mr. Watts offered financial support and free parts to most all racers in the area at one time or another thru his salvage yard and towing business.
It has been a custom the past two years to award the winner a custom engraved wrist watch. The watch that will be awarded to the 2007 winner was ordered Tuesday.
Additional information on the race format and prize money will be announced in mid-August.
