Shuffler Wins Late Model Race At Antioch

Morganton, N. C. [6-30-2007] Will Shuffler #46 from Morganton led flag to flag winning the Late Model race Saturday night at Antioch Speedway. Chris Cheek #99 from Wilkesboro, last week’s winner Jimmy Milsaps #20 from Boone and Bryan Nance #4 from Wilkesboro battled the entire event for second place. Cheek managed to hold on to the checkered for second. Nance passed Milsaps with four laps remaining to finish third. Milsaps finished a close fourth. Neil Pitts #21 from Morganton rounded out the top five.
Freddie Frady #01 from Marion won a very competitive Super Stock V-8 event. Tim Sigmon #3 got the jump as the green flag waved with Wesley Chester #35, Brian Carswell #NL2, Frady, Travis Smith #4 and Tim Bristol #71 in hot pursuit. The six battled hard the first three laps going bumper to bumper side by side until Sigmon had his right rear tire go flat causing a five car pile up. All were able to continue except Smith. Carswell later pitted with overheating problems. Frady got the lead on the sixth lap and went on to take the checkered flag. Sigmon recovered from his flat tire to finish second. Ronnie McPeters #7 crossed the line in third but was disqualified at post race inspection for running a 400 small block. Chester struggled with overheating problems recorded a third place finish. Bristol also had overheating problems but managed to finish fourth. Grant Hutchens #23 finished fifth.
Joey Barker #5B from Valdese passed Travis Guffey #5G on the fifth lap and went on to easily win his third consecutive Renegade V-8 event. Larry Brown #18 finished second. Brad Laws #9 finished third. Tony Parsons #20 finished fourth and Guffey fifth.
Trent Chatham #9 from Taylorsville inherited the win in the first annual Doug Patton Memorial Super Stock Four special event when the apparent winner was disqualified at post race inspection. Robby Brown #33 led every lap but was disqualified when he refused to tear down at post race inspection. Trent Chatham passed his brother Travis Chatham #21 with four laps remaining to cross the line in second but was later awarded the win. Travis Chatham finished second. Tim Bristol driving the Doug Patton Crane Service #71 Dodge came from the rear of the field to finish third. Steve Annas #7A ran third most of the event but slid back to a fourth place finish. Keith Hart #81 finished fifth.
Barry Griffin #15G from Pickens, SC took the lead on the fourth lap and held off a hard charging Daimon Patton #1 to win the Doug Patton Memorial Pure Stock Four special event. Patton finished a close second. Jason Potter #59 finished third. Shannon Barnhill #X overcame at least four flat tires and won the hard charger award by finishing fourth. Richard Vasser #15V overcame three flat tires to finish fifth.
Casey Woody #02 from Marion led flag to flag winning the Doug Patton Memorial Young Guns special event. JW Hicks #15 passed Jacob Carver #J22 with five laps remaining to finish second. Carver finished third. Timothy Whitesides #M1 finished fourth and Brandon Marshall #21 overcame a midrace spin to finish fifth.
